The Grateful Dead was an American rock band who formed in 1965 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Grateful Dead fuses rock, reggae, blues, country, jazz and psychedelia, making their music eclectic and unique.
Jerry Garcia was the lead guitarist of The Grateful Dead. Probably the most popular of the band, Jerry had a warm, charasmatic personality.
Bob Weir was the youngest of the band. At just seventeen years-old, Bob was the co-lead vocalist of The Grateful Dead.
Bill Keutzmann was the drummer and bohemian role model of the group. Though less extroverted than Garcia, Keutzman was a musical genius and magical on the drums.
Phil Lesh was probably the most talented of the group. During his time playing the bass with The Grateful Dead, he was able to redefine what the instrument could sound like.
Ron McKernan was one of the men who added versatility and an interesting sound to music of The Grateful Dead. McKernan played the stringing harmonica, keyboards and delivered beautiful blues vocals throughout his time with the band.
Robert Hunter was a non-performing band member of the Grateful Dead. He is a lyricist and singer-songwriter who worked extensively on the American Beauty album.
